Dear Hidden Valley Following and enormously successful trip with Hidden Valley to the summit of Kilimanjaro at the beginning of July, we felt it important to provide you with some very positive feedback on your team on the ground. Notwithstanding some miscommunication with respect to the time of our arrival, Manasseh, the Ground Manager, looked after us incredibly well and personally provided our transfers and made sure we were fully prepared. We also appreciated his visit upon our return to congratulate us and how flexible and helpful he was with respect to our arrangements in Arusha. On the mountain our guides were Carlson and Nicas and we could not have been happier with their service. Both were very knowledgeable not only about the climb itself but about the mountain and its flora and fauna. They clearly love their jobs and their environment. In addition, they were amazingly friendly, caring and attentive as well as professional. We appreciated the fact that they both climbed with us at all times, taking it in turns to lead the group, unlike other companies where one of the guides was often nowhere to be seen. Harriet was especially grateful for their unwavering patience allowing her to hike at a manageable pace without feeling any pressure to move faster. We all summitted in good order and their sound judgement and encouragement were crucial to our achievement. We cannot forget the rest of the team organised by Carlson and Nicas. Remy, our chef, deserves a special mention and we still marvel at his ability to produce three incredibly fresh and tasty meals every day under those conditions. Often the food on these trips can be so mundane as to cut your appetite and leave you undernourished before the summit. Thankfully the food was so good that we had no such issues with our appetites! Finally, we thank all the porters for their hard work and for having the camp set up and ready for our arrival at every stage. Carlson and Nicas certainly know how to assemble a winning team.
